What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is a time of sharing and discovery for all involved!
The role of a mentor is to listen and to share knowledge, skills, compassion and life experiences to guide another through a difficult time or to guide them to reach their full potential. A mentor may help in quieting the mind of the mentee to open their heart to listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit to determine which steps to take that will bring them closer to the desires of their heart. For Ephesians 3:20 promises, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
Mentors listen objectively and serve as a sounding board. Mentors ask questions that encourage mentees to open up and share their feelings. They help the mentee to look at their situation from a variety of perspectives. The mentor may challenge the mentee's traditional ways of thinking and encourage options for the mentee to consider.
A mentor through Stephen Ministries and Woman to Woman Mentoring is Christ centered. They will be there for their mentee and assure them that they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges or a specific struggle that the mentee is facing at the time. The mentor will be a role model, support their mentee, offer hope and help them to believe that they matter.
Mentoring relationships can have powerful positive effects on others in in a variety of personal, academic and professional circumstances. Mentors can make a positive and profound difference to the lives of their mentees.
I encourage you to look forward to blessings that await you, dear one, by embracing what you may be going through and putting your trust in our Lord to give you a life of abundance!
