So often we think God doesn’t hear us during our struggles when we cry out to Him. Like many, after praying and not getting a quick response, I mistakenly thought it was up to me to find my own solutions and answers to struggles I encountered that I thought God didn’t care about. As a result of my ignorance, I replaced God and His power with solutions that I thought were answers.
Despite my frustration from experiencing let downs, I sensed a knowing within my spirit that there was more to life than what I was experiencing. Foolishly, however, I clung to attachments such as doubt, fear, worry, self-pity, blame, insecurity, and unworthiness that kept me from receiving the answers and blessings God had in store for me. The vicious cycle of believing there was more to life, but experiencing disappointment instead because of my ignorance, kept me trapped and miserable until I experienced the awakening of God’s truth, goodness, and unfailing love.
Unfortunately, many of us are guilty of living the life that I used to live. We can end up living in regret, beating ourselves up or living with bitterness, and repeating our mistakes over and over. Perhaps you can relate. Perhaps you, as well, have been stumbling through life trying to find solutions to your struggles and clinging to negative attachments that keep you from experiencing the blessings God has in store for you. If so, my friend, it doesn’t have to be this way. Like me, you can turn to Jesus, surrender your all to Him, and discover the amazing love and grace He has for you.
I didn’t come to know my Lord, have a personal relationship with Him, or realize His goodness until I had nowhere to turn but to Him after struggling for years with the frustration of an ongoing battle in a marriage I didn’t feel honored. While going through the storm of feeling rejected as a wife and trying to do on my own what couldn’t be done, I blamed God, fell into a pit, and prayed to be rescued. After being rescued by the grace of God, I developed a passion to teach others the goodness of our Lord and felt called to share my testimony of finding hope in Jesus and developing a personal relationship with Him.
The awakening in my spirit began after I turned to my Lord during my storm and discovered truth through scripture and chose to replace lies I had believed with His promises. From my struggles, experiences, and awakening, came a story of determination, inspiration, and hope.
I invite you to take a journey with me by reading my story and trusting that you, too, can be made anew, strengthened, blessed, and be set free by the power of the Holy Spirit to “do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).
In sharing my story, it is my intent to help others who struggle with a situation similar to mine by teaching them of God’s incredible love and goodness so they, too, will put their hope and trust in Jesus, develop a relationship with Him, and be blessed!
Growing Through The Storm is a story of triumphs and lessons learned while feeling rejected and trying to find solutions to my unwanted circumstances. I tell how feeling rejected and on my own led to doubt, fear, worry, insecurity, blame, self-pity, and feelings of unworthiness. I share how God revealed Himself to me and how He used my pain to grow me stronger, wiser, and more confident of His amazing love, which led to my relationship with Christ Jesus Who made a way where there seemed to be no way. I also share how I grew in my walk with my Lord and found hope and strength in His love and promises. I embraced the pain and struggles I believed God allowed in my life to draw me closer to Him. I trusted my Lord with the dreams I believed He placed in my heart. All of this in turn led me to experience blessings not only for my sake, but for loved ones as well.
Growing Through The Storm includes points to ponder at the end of each chapter with thought provoking questions and comments including scripture and prayer for personal reflection.
Blessings await you, too, dear one! As I look back on the work God has done in my heart and the hearts of my loved ones, I pray that my story will encourage you to turn to our Lord and embrace the disappointments and challenges you face today, as well as the suffering that accompanies it. I pray it infuses your heart to see the goodness of God and His almighty power to do what we cannot do, that you put your hope in Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and believe “with God all things are possible,” as promised in Matthew 19:26 (KJV) when asked according to His will in His name. This will surely grow you into who you will be tomorrow by challenging you to rise above your circumstances, to find treasure in your struggles, and to seek your true purpose in life. Be blessed, my friend!
